After School Care (ASC)
Play Leader: Elizabeth Coffey
Playworker: Shelli Williams
As a school we realise how important safe and stimulating child care provision outside normal school hours is for some of our parents, particularly those with work commitments. Our After School Care provision (ASC) runs every school day, 3 to 5:30 pm (except very occasionally when school events prevent use of facilities). Based in the school hall, we provide a safe, secure and relaxed environment for up to 20 children from ages 4 to 11 years old (Reception Year to Year 6)
On arrival, the children are able to choose from a range of structured play activities, including art & craft, jigsaws, board games, construction activities, dressing-up, indoor and outdoor sports, and time for homework.
At about 4.30pm, they are provided with a light meal, e.g. sandwiches with a variety of raw vegetables followed by fresh fruit. They sit together for the meal and are encouraged to help lay the table and pack away.
After tea, the children are encouraged to sit for a time together before playing again - possibly sharing books and stories or playing a board game.
We try to use the outdoor space as much as possible - through the rain and snow - and with this is mind, we ask that children attending the club have a change of clothes and shoes, to avoid school uniform being damaged.

After School Care - Terms and Conditions
Our club runs from 3 - 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday (apart from occasional school events that prevent the use of facilities).
Charges and Payments
The charge per session, including a light snack of sandwiches/toast/muffins/crumpets/wraps and a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables is £12
Where a child attends an after school activity before arriving at the club, fees will be charged from the end of the school day.
This secures your child’s place in the event of the after school activity being cancelled last minute.
We also offer a shorter session on a Friday only, from 3pm to 4pm. This is only for children who attend 'Beavers'. The rate for this shorter session is £7 which covers child care and a light snack as described above. Parents will need to pick their child up from ASC by 4pm and it will be parents' responsibility to check that 'Beavers' is running. Due to 'Beavers' not always being at Sibford Village Hall, we are unable to offer a walk-down facility. For Safeguarding reasons, we will only be able to hand your child into the care of another adult to travel to Beavers if we have received your parental consent beforehand.
Your child’s ASC reservation needs to be booked in advance at the end of the previous term due to the 'first come first served' system we run. We will then expect you to commit to these dates except in the most exceptional of circumstances. This is to ensure that we have sufficient guaranteed funds coming in to cover running costs, including staffing.
If there are circumstances in which you need to book an additional session 'on the day', you will need to do this within school hours (9am to 3pm), and make your request via the school office. We request that you do this by telephone as emails can be missed. We will then let you know whether we have spaces available and pass on the information to the ASC Play Leader.
Any changes to ASC bookings (cancellations, additions) with more than 48 hours' notice can be made directly to ASC using the email address [email protected] or by speaking in person to Mrs Coffey, our Play Leader.
For child safeguarding reasons, it is essential that any changes with less than 48 hours notice (additional, cancellations, swaps) are done VIA THE SCHOOL OFFICE, either in person or by telephone so that you are sure your message has been received and we can ensure it is passed on to ASC staff. For Safeguarding reasons, any child booked into ASC will not be allowed to board the school bus or released into the care of another adult without us having received notification of the change of plans from their parent/carer.
Payment: we ask that payments for the half-term are made in advance whenever possible, within the first week of term (not before, for administrative reasons). If, for any reason, you are not able to make a payment for all booked sessions in advance and need to discuss an individual payment plan, please ask to speak confidentially with Miss Coffey or Mrs O'Sullivan within that first week of term. If we have not received your advance payment or a request for a payment plan by the end of Week 2, we will send you a reminder email that payment is due.
Except in the case of school absence due to illness, where a credit will be carried forward, any cancellations made within 48 hours of a booked session, will be charged at full session rate.
All extra bookings must be paid for on day of booking. This can be done via Arbor by adding credit to your ASC account.
We are able to accept Childcare vouchers towards your child's care. Please contact the school office: [email protected] or 01295 780270 for further details.
Please note - If your child has not attended the After School Care facility before, you will need to complete the various registration forms - available from the school office or printable from the attachment below -before your child is able to attend.
