About the WOMBATs
At Sibford Gower Endowed Primary School, we believe it is important that all members of our school community have a ‘voice’ and are listened to.
The Wombats School Council is a democratically elected body of pupils made up of two representatives from each class, and includes a Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary.
Our job is to make sure that pupils at the school have a forum in which their views are shared and discussed, and that their ideas for our school are heard by the whole school, including the school leadership and governors.
We meet on the first Thursday of every calendar month and have a regular assembly slot where we can talk to the student body about plans or concerns. We also have a column in the School Newsletter where we can share the latest Wombat News.
You can look on our noticeboard in the Old School Library to find out who we are, read the minutes from our latest meeting and find out about our current plans and activities.

Behaviour at school
At our school, we don't want any bullying or unkind behaviour, because we want everyone to feel happy and safe.
We talk about behaviour at our school council meetings and everybody in school knows about our anti-bullying policy and what we expect. Please click on the icon below to see a version of our policy that has been shared with, and agreed by, all of the children.

Our School Council 2023-24
Class elections have taken place across the school to elect the representatives to the student school council.
Our first big job of the year is to speak with our class mates to identify our 'HOT SPOTS' (the things we think are great) and the 'GROT SPOTS'(the things we would like to change or improve). We have started this process. Watch this space for our final document.

Hot Spots & Grot Spots Review - 2022-23
What did we achieve?
What did we achieve?
- The very best thing we achieved was the transformation of the outdoor classroom behind Oak & Willow Classes. This looks amazing and we have lots more plans for developing this as a Science/Nature learning and well-being area.
- Kurt put extra pegs up in the Oak Class cloakroom for us.
- We have replaced some of our outdoor plants and got rid of the dead ones
- We have begun to get The Orchard sorted, with a bit of help from Countrywide
- Beech Class outdoor classroom is tidier
- We are really enjoying Art lessons and have had some special Art days linked to community events, such as The Big Apple Festival
- We have replaced our rotting outdoor wooden tables and benches for brightly coloured new ones
- We have met to start identifying our Hot Spots and Grot Spots for this year

Wombat School Council members worked together to create resources for a whole school assembly which they led to introduce their chosen fundraiser, the TeamSeas' project which is removing plastic from the world's oceans.

Hot Spots and Grot Spots update - October 2016
We have finished reviewing progress against our 2015-16 grot spots and our latest 'Hot Spots and Grot Spots' presentation is being developed right now. We managed to achieve a lot this year and most of the grot Spots have been sorted!
- The torn and dirty brown carpets in Old School have now been replaced with brand new blue ones, which look much smarter. Thank you to the PTA and to the Town Estates charity for funding this.
- The library has been re-carpeted and it has new furniture. It is a really nice area to work in now and is one of our Hot Spots, especially with all the lovely artwork which is on the walls.
- The broken fence in the main playground has been replaced with a much stronger one. It looks a lot better and it means we don't lose our footballs into the farmer's field anymore.
- All the broken bits on the outdoor climbing frames and trails have been replaced so they are safe for us to play on.
- The water fountain has been fixed so we don't have to come inside for a drink at playtime. This is much safer and quicker!
- The embroidered panel in the hall has been taken down and put safely in storage. We now have new paintings on canvas by the children up, which we painted at Bastille Day. They look really lovely and bright.
- The broken down wall around the 'outdoor classroom' has been taken down and rebuilt - thank you again to the Town Estates charity for making this possible. This means that we can begin to plan our KS2 outdoor classroom.
- The area outside Beech Class has been developed as a safe outdoor learning space and the children are using it every day - brilliant!
- All the classrooms now have a book corner where we can choose to read quietly.

Updates
This year we managed to collect an amazing 8000 Sainsburys School Games vouchers. We have used these to order equipment to support sport in school and outdoor learning, including an outdoor den-making kit and lots of equipment for Gardening Club which we will store in the new shed bought for us by our PTA.
We have also written to the PTA to ask if they will fund a Friendship Bench so we can tell if someone is feeling lonely and needs some help to find someone to play with.

The first Hot Spots and Grot Spots document was produced in the Autumn Term of 2014-15. Since then, we have worked really hard to improve the Grot Spots.
These are some of the ways:
The outdoor classroom hasn't been done yet, but the headteacher and some of the governors and parents have set up a working party to plan this.
These are some of the ways:
- The Orchard Project is brilliant. We can get into the Orchard now and it looks loads better. Now we can use it for learning all year round.
- Thanks to some of our parents who listened to us in one of our Wombat Assemblies, the PE shed is all tidy and we have got a list of everything that is in there. We have used some of the Sports Premium money to make sure we have enough Sports Equipment to take part in lots of different competitions and develop new skills.
- We done lots of Art projects, in class and across the school, which means we have a lot of art work to display. It makes the school look very bright and interesting.
- Our headteacher sorted out the lights, so now the classrooms don't feel gloomy any more.
- The old bat cave doors got replaced with nice strong new ones. This makes the playground look much better.
- The Maths Bay looks much tidier but we all have to tidy up after ourselves to keep it nice.
- Children have stopped throwing paper towels in the toilets, so they look tidier too.
